The Need for Foster Parents is Great!
Today, as never before, there is a tremendous need for foster parents in Colorado. The goal of foster care is usually to provide a stable home for children until it becomes safe for them to return to their biological families. In some cases, it doesn't become safe and the courts terminate parental rights. Foster parents often have the choice to adopt and the adoption is almost free.
Financial reimbursement for foster parents is available to cover the costs of providing food, clothing, housing and transportation. Full medical care is provided usually through Medicaid or the biological family's insurance. Foster parents usually have food bank privileges to help with the cost of groceries. Colorado Family Services Provides training and case management in the homes to help foster parents learn to deal with the sometimes difficult behaviors that many children present.
